101 Dalmatians and Smoking in Movies

MOLLY SCHOEMANN: I think smoking is a terrible, dangerous habit, sure. However, a British anti-smoking group has suggested that certain films be banned from being viewed by children because they show characters who smoke. These include such classics as Lord of the Rings and 101 Dalmatians. The idea of censoring smoking from classic children’s movies is a little absurd to me. Even thought I agree that children should be discouraged from picking up the habit, I feel that our efforts would be better spent finding other ways to do that. Continue reading
