In Briefs: Sports Hold Music
MOLLY SCHOEMANN: For everyone’s information, if you call Yankee Stadium to order tickets, while you are on hold, they play radio footage from games when the Yankees beat other teams.
STEPHON JOHNSON: I forgot that the Yanks do that. I remember attempting to get in touch with their media relations office and hearing Aaron Boone and Tino Martinez highlights.
HOWARD MEGDAL: The Mets do the same thing! Their loop of moments is pathetically short. It’s basically Johan Santana winning, and Carlos Beltran walking off under his own power.
MOLLY SCHOEMANN: At least it’s not a looped recording of someone telling them their uniforms sure look nice?
CHRIS PUMMER: Sort of related, whenever I see some NFL Films thing on TV it seems like it’s packed with highlights of teams beating the shit out of the Bears. I almost expect the next program to come on and be hockey highlights of some team scoring a bunch of goals while guys in Bears uniforms and football pads fall all over the ice.
