SAM PAGE: Zombieland, the horror-comedy film from first-time director Ruben Fleischer, delivers on some good character humor, and that’s really the extent of it. The film, bound to draw several inapt comparisons to the British Shaun of the Dead, becomes “the first horror comedy in recent memory to find significant theatrical success” by mostly avoiding the horror. Whereas Shaun succeeded through the gruesome post-apocalyptic background contrasting the more pressing, ordinary problems of the protagonist, Zombieland’s undead only exist to have their head beat in with Woody Harrelson’s banjo. Michael Vick: Time Served/Conundrum for Eagles Fan
STEPHON JOHNSON: Yes, Michael Vick is back. Yes, he did something terrible and repulsive. Guess what? He served his time. It’s over now. Hide your dogs and let’s play football.
DAVE TOMAR: Vick deserves outrage for taking the opportunity once given to him and exploiting his considerable wealth and resource to engage in a cruel, inhumane, illegal and morally reprehensible criminal conspiracy. The whole ‘everybody deserves a second chance’ line is bullshit code for ‘we think this guy can still make some money for us.’ NFL teams are not required to exercise ethical judgment but I am.
